For Christmas in 1969, Mike Kittredge, 17, had no money to buy a present
for his mother. He melted some crayons and made her a candle. A neighbor
witnessed this gracious and loving act and persuaded Mike to sell the
candle to her. As a result, Mike bought enough candle wax to make two
candles. One would be for his mother and the second one he would sell.
This was how Yankee Candle was born! Today, Yankee Candle Company is the #1 and foremost recognized brand in the candle industry! Their underlying core principle is to share their customer’s “passion for fragrance” in the 150+ fragrances that they offer. Today, Yankee Candles are sold in over 500 company-owned stores and through the doors of over 19,000 specialty retailers throughout the United States. Locally owned and operated by Timothy Brilliant & Zack Morin, Zack’s
is quickly establishing itself as the second largest Department 56
account in the state. A lot of new and exciting things are in the works
as the guys have just acquired the largest Department 56 account located
in Portland, Maine-- Country Noel! In so doing, Timothy & Zack want to
align their businesses with the NCC to help further establish them
amongst Department 56 collectors. More details will follow as the
merging of the two businesses occurs. Zack’s is more than a gift shop and caters to the everyday and holiday needs of its clientele with warm, friendly, customer service that is to be expected with a locally owned specialty shop. Country Noel has a 24 year history of providing the latest in holiday decorations and all Department 56 product lines. As avid collectors, they also have the vision not only grow the customer bases of the two locations; but, would like to establish a new collector club in the area as well.
